Twenty Something

My Lady, I’ve been meaning to mention “deceased”

defines you in decades and a time capsule is

buried in a galaxy beneath wealth and tension.

My Lady, decisions were destined and

places were discovered in your twenties.

My Lady, the stages of your prior life,

you tried to hide, are scribbled upon

pages and pictures, on every side.

My Lady, I ponder opinions and chapters that

prepared you for you in your twenties.

My Lady, I have questions. what did they,

those segments, have to say? I cannot see

for the capsule of time, it’s astronomical.

My Lady, I’ll listen and feel anything to heal

the surreal. you in your twenties.

My Lady, you can’t afford not to thrive

in your twenties. don’t drive

to places fixed with juxtapositions

from peoples’ faces that reflect

“just a position.” thrive in your twenties.

My Lady, you can’t afford not to remember,

rarely request rewind, I plea you press play;

especially in your twenties.

fear, fake or forget to fast forward,

I say you stay; especially in your twenties.

My Lady, you can’t afford not to

uncover the capsule of time you’ve

desired to decipher without display.

My Lady, I want to be interstellar,

to be with you in your twenties.

My Never Ending Nightmare

The Feeding

A dusty fan circulated across the room from one end to the other. It’s been a while since Augustus put it to use, so he couldn’t blame the junk for its inability to remember its single duty. Arkansas hasn’t had a summer night like this since he was a child. He lay in his damp […]
