Everything Changes

Everything in our climate changes, yet at the same time nothing does.

Just look at me, I’ve started off this sweet little daisy of a girl.
Aren’t we all daisies though?

I’ve looked at all the outlandish things I’ve done as an almost twenty-three year old woman.
I’m unsure if its better I cry or better I laugh.

The first time I thought about evil in man,
I did not see the original daisy that he stemmed from,
but the poison he seeped into.

Oh, but we are all daisies, I know now,
some of us just don’t get enough water.
Some of us don’t get enough light.
But we grow,
and we change,
like everything else we are a product of our environment.

We start out daisies and some of us form into weeds.

It’s hard to comprehend man being shaped into evil,
but it starts young and brews through veins
with age until it reaches its greatest size.

And then the rest of us daisies die
because we stopped getting sunlight,
we stopped getting water.

We feed off one another essentially.
We grow better together.

My Never Ending Nightmare

The Feeding

A dusty fan circulated across the room from one end to the other. It’s been a while since Augustus put it to use, so he couldn’t blame the junk for its inability to remember its single duty. Arkansas hasn’t had a summer night like this since he was a child. He lay in his damp […]

Gin Star Drinking

Today is for you. Wanna go away? I was thinking Bombay, Gin star drinking, they now say Mumbai. London dry, Wear a white tie, Leave me tongue tied. In the blink of an eye, We’re eating Boston cream pies, On the Fourth of July. This isn’t easy to come by, So overbuy Eau de vie, […]

I Was Lying in the Sun

I was lying in the sun, Near juniper shrubs and storybook villas. Not enough profit and pleasure in the telling of, The tapping of a cigarette, The brush of bare knees, A long draught of wine, Closing the shutters on balconies, With blinds made of lace at Angel’s Bay. Red watermelon hues. I’ve read […]
